Day 2. Wet weary travelers.

Well we were up with the lark, black bird, sparrow, thrush, oyster catcher and any other noisy bird.... They appear to start singing extra early up here.

We wanted to be away early to get the first ferry at 10am.

We were up at 6:30am and away by 9am. Lovely and dry so the 2 miles to Oban were easy.
Alex was doing his first ferry trip with his car. It was a tight squeeze on the car deck.

We sat downstairs where it was warm and serving hot food.
As we left Oban there was a beautiful big yacht moored in the bay, ah dreams.

Hmmm Beautiful

When we stepped off the ferry we were met with RAIN,  oh joy.
Alex headed off to do some walking, Bobby and I donned our waterproofs and peddled north towards Tobermory.  After about 11 miles on the fairly flat main road we found a perfect spot for lunch. A picnic table by the beach and the even rain stopped for half an hour. We watched the tidal races stop the sailing yachts in there tracks while the ferry's just ploughed through the narrows. No otters yet but plenty of road signs warning of them :-)

As we finished lunch the rain came back...  But heavier this time so full waterproofs were needed. Well waterproof from the outside but keep the sweat in very efficiently.  Yuck.

After his walk Alex passed us on a steep hill, before Tobermory, and waved at the drowned rats. Words did not fail us ;-)
On the way down the other side Bobby and I found a lookout tower looking over a waterfall.  It was wonderful. It was dry, had a seat, and a great view. Link to the Google map location of the car park.

A welcome break from the rain.

After a wee rest we powered on to Tobermory through the rain.

The campsite was a welcome site. In the poring rain.
We quickly put up the tents.
After a welcome hot shower, we had coffee and biscuits with a Dutch couple who are on an island and whisky hopping tour. They certainly seem to be enjoying the Whisky part of the tour :0)

Still raining
With the rain still pouring down we have come in to Tobermory for some dinner at The Mishnish Italian restaurant,  good food at a good price :-)

Yummy food

And still raining

Well weather tomorrow is looking brighter so lunch at Calgary beach should be good.
No WiFi today. Will try to post photos when I can
Thanks for following, B Road fans.
